South Carolina’s Hammock Coast is the official and registered trademark tourism moniker of Georgetown County. Located between Charleston to the south and Myrtle Beach to the north, South Carolina’s Hammock Coast stretches along the Palmetto State’s most beautiful, pristine and award-winning beaches. Pawleys Island has been named the “Best Beach in South Carolina” in 2024 and 2025 by USA Today/10 Best. It’s been said that birding on the Hammock Coast is the best on the East Coast. More than 300 species can be found here. Each February, we hold the Hammock Coast Birding Festival.
